We are on the outskirts of Montemelino in Umbria, where Conestabile Della Staffa was born. Not far from the vineyards, which cover more than 12 hectares, is Lake Trasimeno, which has a great influence on the climate and grapes. The estate dates back to the 19th century, but the first vintage as director winemaker for Danilo Marcucci was 2015.
The vineyards are located 250-300 meters above sea level mainly on clay soils with a limestone base. Sangiovese, Colorino, Sagrantino, Gamay del Trasimeno, Canaiolo, Trebbiano Dorato, Montanaro Trebbiano, Grechetto and Malvasia are grown here. Spontaneous fermentations and in the cellar no technology or intervention, where the wines do not undergo invasive filtration. In the early years, biodynamic methods were used in the vineyard to remove the few chemicals left in the fields. Litrò Bianco from Cantina Conestabile della Staffa is a white wine made from Grechetto and Trebbiano Giallo, spontaneous fermentation and 2-day maceration on the skins, aged in fiberglass barrels, with no added sulfites.
