Weingut Staffelterhof is probably one of the oldest wineries in Germany 🇩🇪,in fact it appears for the first time in texts from 862 AD. The winery itself is located in Kröv, a village in the heart of the central Moselle on a 180 ° bend in the river between the old and peaceful wine villages of Wolf and Kinheim. The vineyards extend for about seven hectares on the steep slate hills in the villages of Kröv, Dhron and Piesport. About 75% are planted in Riesling, but there are also plants by Muller Thurgau, Kerner and Spätburgunder🍇Today it is run by Gerd, Gundi and his son Jan Matthias Klein. It is above all the latter that has revolutionized the cellar. After a two-year apprenticeship in viticulture and wine-making in various wineries, from New Zealand and Australia to France and in many different places in Germany, Jan Klein began experimenting with the production of natural wines from their beloved vine, Riesling. In the vineyard he works in biological but soon will pass to biodynamic using methods of over 100 years for the treatment of plants and soils. Even in the cellar, they try to intervene as little as possible without large imaginative machines or wine additives, using indigenous yeasts for fermentation, and steel tanks for refining to try to keep the wine more pure.

Regent is a precocious grape variety created by crossbreeding and thus also very resistant to mildew. A good match with the bluestone, but also humid climatic conditions such as in Kröv (Mosel).
Ruby Soho (also the name of a crazy wrestler) is a slightly pearly stunner brimming with red forest fruit. A wine that develops almost every year. As a result, the wine has become significantly more fruity and also more drinkable. In the last vintage, Pinot Noir was added to make the wine slightly easier drinking.
This Pet Nat has also a nice fine refreshing fizz of cassis, blueberry and a little hint of wild strawberry. Would go well with savoury tarts or even baked fruity pies or just as a fucking nice & fruity summer apéro.
Viel Spaß !
