After having travelled a lot and done a lot of odd jobs in various parts of France, Alban Michel created Les Sabots d'Hélène in 2005. It's a domain of 8 hectares of vineyards, in Feuilla. His experience in the Côte du Rhône and the Roussillon allowed him to acquire a good mastery of organic farming.
Yaaaa for this one! hands down for (it) anticonstitutionnellment. The grapes (grenache blanc, macabeu and muscat) for this orange wine are hand-picked, with wild yeasts following a spontaneous fermentation. The grapes are left for three weeks for skin contact, and that's where the beautiful orange color comes from. then bottled by hand without pump, unclarified and unfiltered. And hey, only 300 bottles a year, so we're pretty proud to have this one in our web shop. 😇
Then, most importantly, taste! This orange wine tastes... orange. Do you understand what we mean? We find orange marmalade, tangerine peel, ginger, but also ripe pear, melon, wax, nectarine and elderflower in the tasting note. What an orange powerhouse, this is not a wine for bravados…. But a must try !
Serve it with dishes that contain at least as much flavor, nice greasy or spicy food. Fierce is best. Chicken pirri pirri to name a few, we promise you that the wine will not fall away.
